Using a job-knowledge quiz

This page is not legal advice. Counsel has not signed it.

A PreHireBadge quiz reports how a person answered job-knowledge questions at one time. It does not make an employment decision. The employer decides whether to use the scores, whether any target is related to the job, and how to follow the law that applies to them.

The quiz is not a background check and it is not part of a consumer report. Ordering a $5 criminal check is a separate step with its own consent.

Do not use a quiz to ask about health, family, age, arrests, or honesty. The product rejects those topics. Extra time is available before the clock starts, and the employer does not see whether it was used.

Keep the attempt records. California locations use a four-year retention note. A New York City work location shows a notice about how the quiz is scored. Item statistics do not change a score.
