PreHireBadge

Screen & Verify

Free for candidates

Give every candidate a status they can share.

When a check finishes, the candidate gets a PreHireBadge: a public status page with their name, the result, and the dates it is valid. It lasts 90 days and costs the candidate nothing.

  • Name, result, and issue and expiry dates
  • Valid for 90 days, then shows Expired
  • Opened from the candidate's own status page

Not an employment report and not a decision to hire. Another employer still orders their own $5 report.

How it works

4 steps, start to finish

  1. 1

    Employer orders a check

The standard $5 invite. Nothing extra for the employer to turn on.

  2. 2

    Report is released

When ScreenForge Labs releases the report, a badge is issued with a public ID and a 90-day window.

  3. 3

    Candidate opens their status page

The badge link sits on the candidate's status page, next to their report access and dispute options.

  4. 4

    Share the link

Send it to a recruiter, add it to a profile, or keep it handy for the next platform application.

Why it matters

What you get with portable badge

Free for the candidate

The badge comes with the check the employer already paid for. The candidate never pays to share it.

Clear, short, and dated

Name, result, public ID, issue date, and valid-until date. Nothing else — no record details, no email, no identifiers.

Expires on its own

Every badge is valid for 90 days from issue, then reads Expired, so an old result never passes for a current one.

Honest disclaimer built in

Each badge states that it is not an employment report and that another employer still orders their own report.

What the badge is — and what it is not

A PreHireBadge is a status the candidate can share. It shows their name, a result of Clear or Records found, a public ID, and the dates it was issued and is valid until. After 90 days it shows Expired. The candidate finds the link on their status page after the report is released.

The badge is not an employment report, and it is not a decision to hire. That line is printed on every badge. It does not contain record details, and no employer can use it in place of a report. Another employer who wants to rely on a background check for a hiring decision still orders their own $5 report — with the candidate's consent, through an invite.

So why have it? Because a candidate who just finished a check has something worth showing: proof they are serious, proof they completed screening recently, and an easy way to start the next conversation.

FAQ

Questions employers ask about portable badge

Still unsure? Ask Peter, our assistant, in the bottom-right corner, or browse the help center.

Can an employer use a PreHireBadge instead of ordering a report?

No. The badge is not an employment report and not a decision to hire. An employer that wants to rely on a background check orders their own $5 report through an invite the candidate completes.

How long is a PreHireBadge valid?

90 days from the date it is issued. After that, the page shows Expired.

What information does the badge show?

The candidate's name, the result (Clear or Records found), a public ID, the issue date, and the valid-until date. It does not show record details, an email address, or any identifiers.

Where does the candidate find their badge?

On their status page after the report is released. They sign in to the status page with a one-time code.

Your next candidate is one $5 report away.

No credit card to sign up, no expiration on what you buy. Run one report for $5, or stock up with the 10-pack for $45 and use them whenever hiring picks up.
