New York Correction Law Article 23-A tells public agencies and private employers when they may deny a license or employment because of a previous criminal conviction. Section 750 defines a private employer, for this article, as one that employs ten or more persons. New York City's Human Rights Law covers a smaller headcount, which is why the city course is separate. New York General Business Law Article 25 limits how consumer reports are procured and what they may contain. This lesson is educational and is not legal advice. If the job is in the city, take that course as well.
